Public Health
From Clinical Practice to Public Health Action
Treating one child with TB is clinical care. Asking why the child was missed, who else in the household is at risk, and how the system can find the next child earlier — that is public health. Over time, the work has moved from the first question to the second.
Childhood TB
- Pediatric TB advocacy among pediatricians and programme teams
- Early diagnosis of childhood TB, including child-friendly sampling
- TB prevention through contact screening and TPT
- Free pediatric TB care, sustained over decades
Community & Nutrition
- Community screening camps in rural and underserved areas
- Nutritional support for patients through Ni-kshay Mitra adoption
- Shekhpura and Purkhas declared TB-free Gram Panchayats
- Awareness sessions in schools and communities
Working with the System
- Collaboration with the District TB Office and State TB Cell under the NTEP
- Training and coordination with pediatricians and health workers
- Ni-kshay reporting and follow-up support
- Participation in state-level NTEP review meetings
Documented figure: 1,200+ Ni-kshay Mitra adoptions for nutritional and treatment support — acknowledged in an Appreciation Certificate from the State TB Cell, Haryana (O/o DGHS).

Zero Pediatric TB Sonipat Model
Carried forward through the Baal Kshay Rog Mukt Sonipat Task Force, the model brings pediatricians, NTEP teams, government health staff and community stakeholders together around one aim: finding and preventing TB in children earlier.
Early data: District Ni-kshay records show pediatric TB notifications in Sonipat falling from 53 in Q1 to 34 in Q2 2026 (35.8%). Source: Ni-kshay data, District TB Office, Sonipat. See the TB Elimination Journey →
