40 Years · Teacher · Researcher · Public Health Leader
Academic & Public Health Contributions
From PGIMS lecture halls to WHO-organized CMEs — Dr. N.K. Mittal has spent 40 years not only practicing medicine but teaching it, researching it, and advocating for the children it serves.
Beyond the Clinic
A Doctor Who Teaches, Researches, and Leads
Dr. N.K. Mittal has always understood that individual clinical excellence is not enough. For a nation to protect its children from tuberculosis, malnutrition, vaccine-preventable diseases, and neonatal mortality — thousands of doctors, nurses, ANMs, and health workers must be trained, equipped, and motivated. That is the purpose of Dr. Mittal’s academic and public health work.
Over 40 years, his contributions have spanned three dimensions: academic teaching and research that builds knowledge; national health programme participation that builds systems; and leadership in professional bodies that builds institutions.

Medical Education
Faculty at 75+ National & International CMEs
For 40 years, Dr. Mittal has carried his knowledge beyond his own clinic and into the classrooms, conferences, and training halls of Indian medicine. As faculty at more than 75 Continuing Medical Education (CME) programmes — organized by WHO, UNICEF, IAP, NNF, and IMA — he has trained thousands of doctors, nurses, and health workers across India.
Teaching a doctor to recognize TB in a child is worth more than treating a hundred individual cases. Because that one trained doctor will find hundreds more cases that would otherwise have been missed.
His teaching covers pediatric TB diagnosis and treatment, neonatal resuscitation, gastric aspirate technique, Kangaroo Mother Care, childhood immunization protocols, pediatric nutrition, and national health programme implementation.
