The Road Ahead
Vision Forward: A TB-Free Bharat
Despite decades of service, the mission is far from complete. With renewed energy, the focus now turns to eliminating pediatric tuberculosis across India through the following commitments:
- Adopting Gram Panchayats to make them entirely pediatric TB-free through screening, treatment, and education.
- Supporting TB patients as a Nikshay Mitra, providing nutritional and emotional care alongside treatment adherence.
- Raising awareness across schools, colleges, and universities for TB Mukt Bharat and mobilising support for the cause.
- Organising TB detection camps, especially in rural and underserved urban areas.
- Building a national network of pediatricians and physicians for collaborative action.
- Partnering with IMA, IAP, and FOGSI to strengthen TB advocacy and care delivery.
- Promoting BCG and catch-up immunisations to eliminate vaccine-preventable TB.
- Advancing research on shorter, more effective regimens for MDR-TB and routine pediatric TB.
- Training healthcare personnel in pediatric TB sampling and early-detection techniques nationwide.
